Travelling to Vermont?

If you happen to find yourself in Bennington Vermont, you may want to connect to the town’s new downtown WiFi.  The WiFi network officially launches today (July 17 2014) during the town’s midnite madness extravaganza.

Why would you want to connect to this WiFi network?  Because its “PCI Compliant” according to Economic and Community Developer Michael Harrington.  And Michael should know, as he “has administrative control over the network”.    Users who connect to the network are taken to the town’s new website at http://www.benningtonvermont.org/ , which unfortunately does not feature server side authentication or encryption via HTTPS.  Luckily, there doesn’t appear to be a way to input your payment card information or buy anything in general.  Perhaps that’s the secret to compliance!

Michael:  You are wasting your time with this economic and community development!  You should be deploying these compliant networks for a living!

Bennington – It’s where Vermont begins!
